Senator Dave Min Issues Statement in Response to Violent Crime Committed at Fashion Island

(NEWPORT BEACH, CA) – Today, Senator Dave Min (D-Irvine) issued the following statement reacting to the failed robbery attempt at Fashion Island shopping center that left one person killed and police in a high speed pursuit.

“Earlier today, an attempted robbery led to shots being fired and a vehicular homicide at Fashion Island, a beloved outdoor mall in Newport Beach that my family and I regularly visit. I am actively monitoring and in communication with local authorities about the horrific crime. I am heartbroken not only by the senseless act of violence and unnecessary loss of life, but the shattering effect this tragedy will have on the countless Orange County families who frequent Fashion Island.

I want to commend local law enforcement for their work in quickly apprehending those responsible.

I am committed to continuing to do all I can as a state legislator to enhance and improve public safety. We cannot rest until we fully address the twin epidemics of gun violence and rising crime.”
