(SACRAMENTO, CA) – Today, Senator Dave Min announced the introduction of Senate Bill (SB) 1394, which establishes a process for the rapid termination of a domestic abuser’s access to app-connected, remote, and GPS-based vehicle technology. Cases of domestic violence have been linked to incidents where abusers exploit location tracking to stalk, harass, surveil, and intimidate survivors.




(SACRAMENTO, CA) – The introduction of Senate Bill (SB) 1055 by Senator Dave Min (D-Irvine) provides local jurisdictions the flexibility in ministerial approval height limits for attached accessory dwelling units (ADUs) once Regional Housing Needs Assessment (RHNA) numbers are met for low and very low income categories.




(SACRAMENTO, CA) – Last week, Senator Dave Min (D-Irvine) introduced Senate Bill (SB) 1126, which will clarify requirements for child abuse mandated reporters.  Under SB 1126, mandated reporters will no longer be compelled to refer families to Child Protective Services solely on the basis that a child has witnessed domestic violence. Current mandated reporting of these cases does not increase safety for children or their protective parent.




(SACRAMENTO, CA) – Senator Dave Min (D-Irvine) announced today that he has introduced Senate Bill (SB) 1078 to establish the Office of Language Access (OLA) within the California Health and Human Services Agency (CalHHS). The OLA would be responsible for the oversight, accountability, and coordination of language access plans across CalHHS departments. Additionally, the OLA will serve as a central hub for building multilingual capacity within the state’s healthcare delivery system and ensure limited-English proficient individuals have access to government services.




(SACRAMENTO, CA) – Today, Senator Dave Min introduced Senate Bill (SB) 1174 to prohibit local governments from imposing voter identification (ID) requirements in local elections. Amidst a growing wave of local election interference, SB 1174 puts a stop to cities, including charter cities, seeking to exploit loopholes in state law that guard against racial bias and other forms of discrimination that often follow ID requirements – particularly with respect to photo IDs.




(SACRAMENTO, CA) – Today, Senator Dave Min (D-Irvine) introduced Senate Bill (SB) 938, which will prohibit political lobbying by investor-owned utilities that can be charged to ratepayers. While federal law technically prohibits utilities from passing lobbying costs onto their ratepayers, these laws are riddled with loopholes, which has allowed utility companies across the country to effectively engage in political lobbying using ratepayer money.

(SACRAMENTO, CA) – Earlier this week, Dave Min’s Senate Bill (SB) 559, which would require the California State Lands Commission to take immediate steps to terminate the remaining leases for offshore oil drilling in California state waters, passed out of its first legislative committee. SB 559 received a 7-3 vote in the State Senate Natural Resources and Water Committee, which is chaired by Senator Min.
