(SACRAMENTO, CA) — Today, the Joint Legislative Audit Committee (JLAC) approved an audit of the City of Huntington Beach’s settlement agreement with Pacific Airshow LLC, on a bipartisan vote. The California State Auditor, Grant Parks, will now be tasked with reviewing the public funds that were used to compensate the Airshow for revenues lost due to the cancellation of one day of the 2021 Airshow and the closure of local beaches following the oil spill off the coast of Huntington Beach.




(SACRAMENTO, CA) – Today, Senate Bill (SB) 1174 authored by Senator Dave Min (D-Irvine) passed out of the Senate Local Government Committee on a 4-2 vote. The bill now heads to the Senate Floor for a vote by the full Senate. SB 1174 prohibits local governments from imposing their own voter identification (ID) requirements in local elections. The legislation reinforces the State of California’s exclusive jurisdiction over voter verification requirements, making any locally imposed voter ID measures a clear violation of state law.




(SACRAMENTO, CA) – Yesterday, the Senate Committee on Local Government passed Senate Bill (SB) 1111 authored by Senator Dave Min (D-Irvine). The bill was introduced after news reports uncovered that an Orange County Supervisor voted to award multi-million dollar contracts to an organization run by his daughter. The $3.1 million in COVID-19 relief funding was granted without disclosing the Supervisor’s family connection to the public.

(SACRAMENTO, CA) – Today, Senator Dave Min (D-Irvine) announced that his Senate Bill (SB) 1078 passed out of the Senate Health Committee with a unanimous 11-0 vote. The bill creates a new Office of Language Access to ensure that Californians with limited English proficiency (LEP) have meaningful access to the myriad of healthcare related programs provided by the California Health and Human Services Agency (CalHHS), including the vast MediCal network that provides medical coverage to a third of the state’s population.




(SACRAMENTO, CA) – Today, the Senate Elections Committee passed Senate Bill (SB) 1174 authored by Senator Dave Min (D-Irvine). SB 1174 prohibits local governments from imposing new and locally determined voter identification (ID) requirements, and makes clear that the State of California has exclusive jurisdiction over voter verification processes for elections across the state. The bill passed on a 6-1 vote, and will be heard next in the Senate Local Government and Finance Committee.
